It looks like Port Charles is about to get a new lawyer in town as TV Insider reports that daytime newcomer Adrian Anchondo is joining General Hospital in a new contract role starting Thursday, March 13. Anchondo will be playing Marco, and while this is the actor’s first daytime role — and first role as a lawyer — he’s had plenty of experience in soapy primetime legal fare like How to Get Away With Murder, The Rookie, and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

“I don’t think I’ve ever played a lawyer,” Anchondo admitted to TV Insider. “I’ve definitely been on the other end from Viola Davis grilling me on How to Get Away with Murder, so that’ll take getting used to.”
The Port Charles newcomer went on to share that he screen-tested with Van Hansis, which has us thinking he may just be Lucas’ next love interest! We’re guessing Lucas is still reeling after his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reunion with Brad ended with the horrifying realization that his ex really hasn’t changed as much as he’d hoped!
But if he is going to be falling for the newcomer, Lucas might want to keep his guard up for a bit, as Anchondo described Marco as “very sweet and charming, and, of course, it wouldn’t be a soap opera without dark secrets somewhere. He’s also very intelligent and very articulate, which is kind of opposite of who I am as a person.”
OK, well, we guess everyone in Port Charles is entitled to a dark secret or two, so bring it on! And he can’t be much worse than Brad, right? Right?! Well, that remains to be seen, but at least the new role lets him reconnect with Hansis who, Anchondo shared, he first met 20 years ago at the Williamstown Theater Festival. “It’s funny because I remember having a little crush on him back then,” he told TV Insider, “and we’ve been in the same circles because we have mutual friends. So, I felt totally comfortable.”
We’ll see how comfortable Marco feels with Lucas, but if our hunch is correct, we have a feeling Brad is going seething with jealousy sooner, rather than later.
